Biography[]

The 21st Century[]

Sumako grew up in an upper middle-class home and graduated from an upper mid-level university. She later became a teacher at Tanasu Daisan elementary school, where one of students was Hana Koganei. Despite having a steady life, Sumako worried about never having a boyfriend, which attracted the evil dôji, Désir, to her and she became his master.

Part I[]

Having been called in by K, Sumako appeared along with the other members of The Evil Dôji Branch in the forest near Mt. Fuji for the One Hundred Machine Funeral, ambushing the good dôji masters. Sumako appeared behind Machi Shina, explaining the power of her dôji, Désir, to cancel the time-spell casted on Edile and Hana Koganei by Ultimo earlier.

Despite nearly winning and killing off most of their enemies, the Evil Dôji Branch's victory was halted by Yamato Agari using the remaining energy in God Ultimo to manipulated Space-Time, rewinding time to the day before. As a result, Sumako, her allies, and everyone else lost their memories of the events, with the expectation of Yamato and Musashi Murayama due to God Regla's abilities.

Part III[]

After the time reversal was done, Sumako and Désir were tasked by Akira Hidaka to investigate and keep an eye on Rune Kodaira and Yamato Agari. They stake-out outside of Rune's home until Yamato and Rune exit the house and got in the police car of Darumada Masami. Due to Akira informing that them of his suspicious of Yamato's friends regaining memories of their past, Sumako and Désir notice Yamato's sudden change in demeanor. As they follow them in her car, they have a conversation about the The Good Dôji Club's status compared to The Evil Dôji Branch's, with them having the advantage since most of the Good Dôji Club members are either dead or incapacitated. Knowing that Yamato was pretending not to notice them, Désir ordered Sumako to get closer to attack them. Sumako was worried about getting into the law and became flustered when Désir teased her about it since it went against her status as an evil dôji master. Désir assured her that Darumada won't get her into trouble since he wasn't on official business and charmed her by saying he needed her.

Swayed by Désir's words, she started a speed chase so Désir can jump out the car and attacked the police car, though Darumada attempted to shake her off. As Désir lifted her car up in the air, he tried to get Sumako to transform into their ICON, but she ended up being snatched by Service since he was too distracted by Yamato's group. As Service taunt Désir over his inability to his use Noh on him, Service remarked he didn't have enough energy because Sumako's desire was weak, which Sumako frantically denied and proclaimed she was fine dying as long Désir can win. She listened to Désir's conversation with Service, and his master Yoichi Oizumi, about the concept of love and lust, which she concernedly paid attention to. Noticing this, Désir angrily yelled at that her not to listen to them or they will be trouble, as Désir would become weaker if their bond was shaken, and demanded that she just keep her eyes on him. Sumako helplessly watched Désir engaged Service in battle, then saw Yoichi and Service transformed into their ICON, defeating Désir and greatly injuring him.

Emotionally distraught, she climbed out her car and walked up on God Service's arm to his face and slapped him, leaving a small hand-print. Although Yoichi assured her that Désir would be fine, Sumako yelled at him for beating Désir and blamed him as the reason why she was crying. She was surprise when Yoichi apologize to her and asking her to teach Désir about true love, though Yoichi warned her safety might be at risk. Afterwards he bowed to her, he told her keep loving Désir so that he may change might change, but Rune chide her for doing things own their own and told her that she should have more lust towards Désir if she doesn't want to be abandon by him. Having received a text from K, When Rune and Jealous combined into their ICON and carried her and Désir in her car away to a meeting with rest of their allies.

When they arrived outside Sparrow Place, Sumako stayed in her car and was completely silent throughout the meeting, letting Rune explained to the rest of the club what happened to Désir earlier. Even when Roger Dunstan and Milieu appeared, she pay no mind to them their actions and despondently worried about Désir as she held him in her lap. After the Good Dôji Club showed up, Dunstan explained the rules for the One Hundred Machine Funeral and reminded everyone that he was watching them before disappearing. Afterwards, Rune mentioned to Yamato that the entire Evil Dôji Branch agreed to go about their lives during the year-long Hundred Machine Funeral, Sumako included.

Once Vice's achieved his second form and stole Ultimo's Time-Space Noh, Vice transported Sumako and rest of the Evil Dôji Branch time traveled to 1944 of Japan. They lived and trained for three years in the Japanese army as they wait for the Good Dôji Club to arrived. Once Yamato and his friends in 1947, Kaizo Oume reported their enemies' arrival to time period to the group. By nightfall the next day, the Evil Dôji Branch soon accepted Makoto Sayama as a new ally, who was secretly Dunstan's daughter and has betrayed Yamato in favor joining the former to defeat her father. While watching over Yamato's actions, Vice and the group oversaw Ultimo reaching his Second state. As Sayama goes to sabotaged Yamato's memories, Vice deployed Sumako and some of the others as back-up. Flying to Yamato's location in their Level 2 ICON, Sumako and Désir engaged in battle with Kiyose Matsumoto and Pardonner. However, their fight was halted by Dunstan's arrival, who was pleased how everything was going and proclaimed to everyone that the One Hundred Machine Funeral was almost over. Sumako watched as Yamato and Yoichi tried to fight Dunstan and failed stop him from taking Sayama to The 30th Century. Deciding to retreat, both sides ceased fighting to head back to their respective residents in order strategize their next move, though Fusataro Fussa choose to side with the opposition.

Due to how weakened the Good Dôji Club was at the moment, Vice choose to capitalize on the opportunity and conduct an ambush with the rest of the group. With Vice and his secondary master, Jun Chichibu, taking the lead, Sumako and the rest were directed to follow from a distance, with the exception Kaizo, who turned against them out of self-interest. As they head towards 1947 Hibari Oume's home, Vice was intercepted by a lone Ultimo and soon a intragroup conflict broke out between Vice and Jun due the former's having a spiritual epiphany. Sumako and her comrades quietly stood by until Vice called out to them to show themselves when Yamato and his allies arrived to the scene. After Yamato and Ultimo beat Vice into submission and made him an ally, the both sides focused on training for their impending battle with Dunstan. When they were ready, the masters and their Karakuri Dôji heads to The 30th Century. As the group reflected over how far they come, Sumako lightly chide Mizho for complaining after she quipping nothing particularly impactful ever happened to her. During the raid of Dunstan's tower, Sumako and the rest of the Evil Dôji Branch attacked Dunstan and Milieu to buy time for the Good Dôji Club save Sayama and synchronize Ultimo and Vice's spirit spheres to form Ideos Ultimo - a form symbolizing of the unity between good and evil.

Pleased by how both sides' realization of the nature of good and evil, Dunstan praised them for their efforts and reveals the real reason of his experiment was to save the future from its destruction. Dunstan then forcefully dispelled everyone from their ICON and immobilize the dôjis, leading all the masters to free fall in the air. Dunstan proclaimed everyone that his experiment isn't over and turned back time, but he allowed Sumako and the others masters to keep their memories and transform the dôjis into humans. Choosing to stay together with Désir, Samuko returned to her peaceful life as a teacher and provide Désir with a job as a janitor at the school.

Relationships[]

Désir[]

Sumako loves and cares for Désir very much, to the point of spoiling him, such as buying him a car that she mostly drives, and saying that he is "everything" to her. Therefore, Sumako is shown taking a rather submissive role in their relationship, listening to everything he says and lacks any control over him. Sumako is also blinded by her love she doesn't realize the fact that Désir does not really care for her and merely using her feelings for him to control her.

Service asserts that Sumako's love for Désir is very strong and is even willing to let herself be kill so that he would win a battle. Conversely, Service states that her love for him can never make him grow any stronger because her genuine love for him greater than any of selfish desires that she possess, which does not generate the energy that evil Karakuri Dôji draws their power from.

At the end of the series, after Dunstan turns Désir into a human, Sumako and Désir choose to continue to live together. Their relationship greatly improved, becoming more genuine, and Désir even got a job at Sumako's school to be around her during the day.
