Hana Koganei (小金井 花 Kouganei Hana) is a young girl, a five-year-old kindergartner and the master of Edile throughout the 21st century. Her role in the One Hundred Machine Funeral and association with Vice allow her to travels through space-time, and Hana was able age to a eight-year-old child within series, though only for a brief time.[1]

Both her parents died before the beginning of the series, leaving her an orphan and it is believed that this lack of guidance and restraint has given rise to her evil tendencies.

Appearance[]

Being a young child, Hana is very tiny, almost equal to the tiny size of her dôji. She has short, wild, light-colored hair, and possesses extremely sharp teeth. She wears a dark sundress with an image of a smiling acorn and a pair of sandals. In her first appearance, she carries a water pouch with her.

After time traveling to the 1940s and staying there for three years, a now eight-years-old Hana remains mostly the same, but has grown taller and her hair becoming longer. She wears a short, light-color dress with a bib-like color and a ribbon. She wears matching shoes with styled with ribbons with a large hat, and carries a small purse.

In Act 44, it shows that Hana's ICON suit is a leather, sleeveless shirt and skirt. She also wears wrist cuffs and boots that goes pass her calfs, but below her knees.

Personality[]

Hana has been shown to have a very hyperactive, loud, and abrasive personality. Because of her age, she can get away with it, as the school security guard smiles at her as she walked by him, even though she was breaking the rules by entering the school unguarded. However, when she is soon engaged in battle with her dôji, she turns serious and destructive. She often refers to herself in third person, which is common for young children in Japan, but drops this habit as she grew up.

Without any paternal figures to guide her and The Evil Dôji Branch as a main source of companionship, Hana is notably selfish, bratty, reckless, and childishly arrogant. Despite this, Hana also appears to be quite intelligent for her age, shown when she observes Ultimo's abilities, making note of small details in her thoughts, and does her best to counter-attack them. Hana also shows that she does not like to be doubted or made fun of her age, destroying the school gym when Yamato Agari questions her authority as a dôji master.

Biography[]

The 21st Century[]

With news of Ultimo's awakening, Vice ordered Hana and Edile to confront Ultimo and his master, Yamato Agari. In the morning, Hana happily traveled Senjo Academy and chatted with the security guard, who questioned her. While mentioning how she was orphan, Hana told the guard her motive and scared him with Edile, who was in his large form. Riding on top of Edile's head, Hana called out to Yamato, who attempted to ignored the duo, which annoyed Hana as she believed Yamato didn't take her seriously. Hana and Edile destroyed the school's empty gym to provoke him and threatens to crush the main building next. Once Yamato summoned Ultimo over, Hana and Edile engaged a them, only to be easily push back and was given warning to leave. As the good duo transformed into their ICON, Hana and Edile to continue to fight, but all attempts were ineffective.

As Hana fall off of Edile, she shed tears and apologized to Vice for failing him in her thoughts before fainting from exhaustion. When Rune Kodaira and Jealous attempted to save Hana and Edile, the latter two were frozen by God Ultimo as they fight against their allies. After teleporting near Mt. Fuji, Hana and Edile were handed off to Goge and the rest of the The Good Dôji Club, so God Ultimo can fight unhindered. As the rest of the The Evil Dôji Branch arrived, Désir's nullifying Noh undo Ulitmo's, Hana and Edile to move again. As Edile ripped out Goge's spirit sphere to hold him hostage, Hana and her dôji mocked their enemies for falling into the Evil Dôji Branch's ambush.

Despite nearly winning and killing off most of their enemies, the Evil Dôji Branch's victory was halted by Yamato using the remaining energy in God Ultimo to manipulated Space-Time, rewinding time to the day before. As a result, Hana, her allies, and everyone else lost their memories of the events, with the expectation of Yamato and Musashi Murayama due to God Regla's abilities.

Part III[]

After Yamato rewind time, Hana and Edile were called to Sparrow Place for an evening meeting of the Evil Doji Branch. Due to being past her bedtime, Hana stay asleep for the rest of the night as she was carried around by Edile.

Once Vice's achieved his second form and stole Ultimo's Time-Space Noh, Vice transported Hana and rest of the Evil Dôji Branch time traveled to 1944 of Japan. They lived and trained for three years in the Japanese army as they wait for the Good Dôji Club to arrived. Once Yamato and his friends in 1947, Kaizo Oume reported their enemies' arrival to the time period to the group. By the next morning, Vice ordered Hana and Edile to show themselves to the Good Dôji Club and let them know they were the same time period. Arriving to the black market, Hana and Edile appeared before Yamato and his friends, though they had trouble recognizing the evil duo due their change in appearance. After causing a ruckus among the civilians, the duo attacked the group, but their dôji protected them and Ultimo freeze them in place. While Yamato wanted to recruit Hana and Edile over to their side, the others were unsure and eventually left them alone, choosing to let Ultimo's Noh wear off and release them naturally.

By nightfall, the Evil Dôji Branch soon accepted Makoto Sayama as a new ally, who was secretly Dunstan's daughter and has betrayed Yamato in favor joining the former to defeat her father. While watching over Yamato's actions, Vice and the group oversaw Ultimo reaching his Second state, though they were unfazed by this development. As Sayama goes to sabotaged Yamato's memories, Vice deployed Hana and some of the others as back-up. Flying to Yamato's location in their Level 2 ICON, Demon Edile engaged in battle with Akitsu Otake and Slow. However, their fight was halted by Dunstan's arrival, who was pleased how everything was going and proclaimed to everyone that the One Hundred Machine Funeral was almost over. Demon Edile watched as Yamato and Yoichi tried to fight Dunstan and failed stop him from taking Sayama to The 30th Century. Deciding to retreat, both sides ceased fighting to head back to their respective residents in order strategize their next move, though Fusataro Fussa choose to side with the opposition.

Due to how weakened the Good Dôji Club was at the moment, Vice choose to capitalize on the opportunity and conduct an ambush with the rest of the group. With Vice and his secondary master, Jun Chichibu, taking the lead, Hana and the rest were directed to follow from a distance, with the exception Kaizo, who turned against them out of self-interest. As they head towards 1947 Hibari Oume's home, Vice was intercepted by a lone Ultimo and soon a intragroup conflict broke out between Vice and Jun due the former's having a spiritual epiphany. Hana and her comrades quietly stood by until Vice called out to them to show themselves when Yamato and his allies arrived to the scene. After Yamato and Ultimo beat Vice into submission and made him an ally, both sides focused on training for their impending battle with Dunstan. When they were ready, the masters and their Karakuri Dôji heads to the 30th Century.

As the group reflected over how far they come, Hana teased Mizho for complaining about nothing particularly impactful ever happened to her and told her to be glad she didn't suffer. During the raid of Dunstan's tower, Hana and the rest of the Evil Dôji Branch attacked Dunstan and Milieu to buy time for the Good Dôji Club save Sayama and synchronize Ultimo and Vice's spirit spheres to form Ideos Ultimo - a form symbolizing of the unity between good and evil.

Relationships[]

Edile[]

Hana has been the master of Edile throughout the 21st Century and the two shares a generally good relationship. Since her parents are dead, Hana relies on him to keep her company and states she isn't alone because Edile was with her when the Senjo Academy's guard about it. At the end of the series, after Dunstan turns Edile into a human, Hana and Edile continues to stay and live together.
