Plot[]

Ultimmo and Vice

Ultimo and Vice falls due to their injuries.

Ultimo and Vice succumb to their injuries and collapse. The bus falls, resulting in a huge explosion ringing out. People all around the station heard the explosion, and some guess a possible terrorist attack due to the damage that had occurred from Ultimo and Vice's battle.

K then appears and starts swearing while Rune asks Yamato if he is all right. Yamato returns the question to which Rune then replies saying, "I'm fine and that it was Ultimo who had saved everybody on the bus." Yamato then sees Ultimo on the ground and goes over to him, asking if he is all right. However, Ultimo doesn't answer and stares ahead, lifelessly. Rune comments, "Ultimo looks like a doll again and he can't move." Yamato looks to Ultimo's insides and sees nothing but complicated machinery. Yamato remarks in disbelief, "He really was a Karakuri Dôji after all." Yamato then notices K a few feet away. K informs them, "Ultimo's one weakness, his soul sphere, was broken and there is a very slim chance of recovery; not that Yamato has a hope of recovering Ultimo in the first place."

A lifeless Ultimo.

Yamato then asks K who he is, which makes Rune silently comment that he writes his name on his clothes, since there was a "K" on the back of his jacket. K explains that he met Vice exactly one year ago and that he fixed him when he was on the verge of dying. He then holds up the top half of Vice by the hair and says he is the evil dôji's master. Yamato, bewildered, asks if he knows all about these 'dôji'. K calls Yamato an idiot before remarking, "It would be strange for him not to know with all the events that have happened." He continues on by saying it is Yamato's fault that he became so decrepit. K finishes by saying he does not feel like telling him any more information.

K and Vice

K holds up a lifeless Vice.

K says that with Vice, he can live everyday just playing around and no one can stand up to him, no matter how rich they are; which is why he quit his job and rented a room for Vice. K goes on to say he recently made the pledge with Vice, and sarcastically asks, "Do you know what this doll does?". He then starts kicking Vice's broken body while babbling angerly about his salary, the trouble the police are going to cause him and that he won't make his grandmother cry over this. Yamato comes up from behind K and punches his face, asking what is wrong with K; beating up his dôji when it can't move. Holding K by his collar, Yamato demands K tell him the vital information he needs. Before Yamato could ask any question, K faints, leading Yamato to lambast him for being so weak. The police then arrived on the scene. Darumada Masami asks what they're doing and concludes that they must be the perpetrators of the disaster. Yamato defends himself saying he didn't do it, but then he realizes that Darumada looks like the one of the bandits from his gang in the 12th Century.

Rune starts to feel nervous about the whole situation, but calms down once he realises they have the opportunity to explain what has happened. K speaks up and says that Yamato and Rune had started the explosion and that they knocked him out when he tried to make a citizens arrest. Yamato calls K a bastard, Darumada then pulls his gun on them, arresting Yamato and Rune for assault and battery. K then mocks Yamato, asking, "How a good dôji like Ultimo could have bonded with such a brash and rough person like you." He then asks who Sayama is, saying that he would like to meet her when Yamato is in jail, which prompts Yamato to hit him again. K asks Vice how long he is planning on sleeping and commands Vice to protect him. The command causes Vice's hand to rise up and form a barrier for his master; cutting Yamato's hand in the process. K informs him, "A dôji is to follow the every command of their master and that it will take a while for Vice to recovered." as Vice unconsciously forms Demon Mask to protect K. He then flies away saying, "The battle has just begun." and that Yamato should look forward to the day when they meet again.

Elsewhere at the school, Hibari Oume says excitedly that she saw a bus get cut in two, and that there were robots everywhere. She naively comments that it was awesome while her friends stare at her with a series of disbelieving looks. Makoto Sayama enters the room and asks, "What's going on?" Akitsu Otake replies, "There was a bus explosion." but Oume denies this. She goes further by saying that Yamato and Rune were there when the bus blew up. Sayama then starts to worry as she recalls seeing Yamato on the way to school, hoping he is alright.

Yamato thinks about Dunstan, K, Darumada, and Ultimo.

In a dark alley, Yamato starts laughing and thinks that Vice turned into a monster so they could get away. Rune yells at him, saying that the police would have helped them for sure, but now they are going to be considered crooks and comments on Yamato's choice to bring Ultimo with them. Yamato says bringing Ultimo was the least they could do after he had saved their lives from Vice. Yamato then declares that he is going to fix Ultimo. Rune asks how he is going to fix the broken dôji. Yamato remarks, "Ultimo is not a normal robot, because he has a heart." He asks Rune not to call Ultimo's recovery "repairing". Rune agrees that Yamato is right and bids him goodbye, continuing on his route for school. Yamato apologizes to Rune, saying that he doesn't want to run away now even though he didn't want to get involved in the first place. He thinks of Dunstan, Darumada Masami, K and Vice and how he doesn't know anything about them. Yamato concedes he can't fix his problems with them until he fixes Ultimo. He then states that he is going to help him and resolves not to let K lay even a single finger on Sayama.

A image Dunstan laughing at Yamato's situation and a figure watch him.

Yamato heads off to his apartment to fix Ultimo. He is going through the bushes when he is caught by his mother, Fushimi Agari. She informs him that she will be late in getting home from work, and Yamato will have to make dinner for himself.

In Yamatoa's room, he inspects the damage to his dôji and says no matter how he looks at it, Ultimo has a horrible wound. A glimmer of light from Ultimo's soul sphere catches his eye in the dark alley. Yamato remembers his first meeting with Ultimo and what K and Rune told him. He figures that Ultimo should be able to somehow repair himself if he does something.

Yamato decides he must then make the Pledge of Devotion, even though he doesn't know what that is. He then gets the idea to kiss Ultimo. He then rhetorically apologizes to the Sayama in his mind as he puckers his lips, but before his lips could make contact, Ultimo wakes up. The little red dôji asks Yamato if he brought him here. At that moment, Sayama then enters the room, saying she was worried but stops dead in her tracks when she sees Yamato on top of Ultimo. Sayama smiles and says nothing, then leaves. The shock and embarrassment of Sayama seeing him at the worst possible time made Yamato faint with Ultimo telling him to "Hang in there!"

Dunstan is then seen laughing maniacally at Yamato's situation while a mysterious figure stands on the top of a tower overlooking the complex. The figure then scoffs "shit," with the tip of its gauntlet against its teeth.
